Forthglade Foods Ltd becomes a Certified B Corporation

Pioneer of natural dog food joins the growing movement of companies using business as a force for good.

Okehampton, Devon, 8th September 2025 - Forthglade has today announced its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a growing movement of companies that are reinventing business for the benefit of all people and our shared planet. Verified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, the achievement demonstrates that Forthglade meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability alongside a commitment to goals beyond shareholder value.

Forthgalde CEO, David Cox commented:

“We’re delighted to announce that due to the commitment and tenacity of our team, Forthglade is now B Corp Certified, proudly joining the ‘business as a force for good’ community.

As a British manufacturer, we have the opportunity, and we believe the responsibility, to create a real and positive impact. This central belief has united our team on a sustainability journey over several years. Initially we focused our attention on assessing where we could improve and then implementing those changes as our priority, keeping our pawprint on the planet as light as possible. Our second step was to then seek independent review of our activities, through the B Corp Certification process. Passing the B Corp Certification process with a score of 96 is testament to our priorities being in the right place.

Whilst we are immensely proud of this achievement, we are already busy identifying ways to further enhance our own sustainability and working with the wider B Corp community to amplify collective impact.”

The news comes as the ongoing climate crisis and widening social inequality continue to pose urgent challenges to our economy. B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers impact areas related to practices around governance, workers, community, the environment and customers. The certification process is rigorous, with companies required to provide evidence on performance while legally embedding their commitment to purpose as well as profit in their company articles.

Forthglade is now part of a growing community of over 9,700 businesses globally that have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK is one of the largest and fastest-growing in the world, with over 2,500 companies spanning a range of different industries and sizes. Names include The Guardian, Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, Tony’s Chocolonely, The Big Issue, Finisterre, Elemis, and Sipsmith Gin.

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, says:

“Welcoming Forthglade to the B Corp community is hugely exciting. Its commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and will help spread the notion that success in business is as much about people and planet as it is profit.”
