Benefits of Feeding Dry Dog Food

"Feeding a natural, high quality dry food is a popular choice and it is easy to understand why. Whether cold pressed or kibble, dry food is practical to store and can be more cost effective than feeding wet. Some dogs find the ‘crunch’ of dry food really satisfying, especially if combined with a puzzle feeder or when scatter feeding to heighten their overall mealtime experience"

Dr James Greenwood, Media Vet & Forthglade Ambassador

Dry Dog Food FAQs

Dry dog food sometimes gets overlooked, but at Forthglade, we take pride in offering something special. Our Cold Pressed and Lightly Baked Dry Food recipes are carefully crafted with high levels of protein and are free from unnecessary fillers. Each recipe is complete and balanced, providing everything your dog needs for their daily nutrition.

To give you extra peace of mind, our dry foods are independently rated by All About Dog Food, a trusted resource that compares a wide range of products on the market. We’re proud to have achieved a fantastic 77% rating for our Cold Pressed Dry Food and 70% for our Lightly Baked Dry Food. You can explore these ratings and more details across all of our ranges here.

You can find this impartial information across all of our ranges here. We're also lucky enough to have thousands of verified customers who also love our dry dog food, our full list of reviews can be found here.

Lamb is a nutritious and wholesome dinner for dogs but we do not recommend our lamb cold pressed for puppies. This is because the calcium is higher than is suitable for growing puppies as their bones and joints are developing and require carefully balanced nutrients.

The rest of our Cold Pressed recipes are suitable for puppies and can be seen here: Shop Puppy Dry Food

Our sleeves and trays for our Wet Food are widely recycled.

Our Lightly Baked natural dry food bags and natural treats bags are recyclable.

Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to reduce our pawprint on the planet, all our Cold Pressed dog food bags are now made with recyclable packaging.

This positive change means that across our entire range, we now achieve 99% recyclable packaging (by weight), an important milestone in our mission to protect the environment for future generations of pets and people.

Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, store in an airtight container for maximum freshness. Our Cold Pressed dry dog food can be kept for up to one month once opened and our Lightly Baked dry dog food can be kept for up to two months.

All food comes with a best-before date on the outer packaging and unless otherwise stated will have at least one years shelf life.

We work very closely with a team of like-minded dog lovers in the EU to produce our range of cold pressed natural dry food for dogs.

We're very lucky to have found a team who are both experts in the technique of cold-pressing – and who share our belief in nourishing the relationship you have with your dog through a good quality natural diet.

Complete Dry Dog Food

We're a bunch of dog lovers from Devon who have been making natural, balanced dog food for over 50 years. Our premium range of natural dry dog food is grain-free, hypoallergenic and bursting with goodness. Our dry food for dogs is made using only natural ingredients along with added vitamins, minerals & botanicals.

Grain Free Dry Dog Food

Our innovative cold pressed dog food for good gut health is made using a cold pressing technique, meaning that that we take lots of scrumptious ingredients and – to keep in the nutrients – do as little to them as possible before they’re wolfed down by your canine companion. Each bite-sized piece of this grain free complete dry dog food retains as much natural flavour and goodness as possible. Suitable for all lifestages (Excluding 1 Year + Lamb*) and with added fruit and salmon oil to ensure your four legged friend has all the essential nutrients they need. Our Cold Pressed dry food is available in Chicken, Turkey, Duck, Salmon, Lamb and Small Dog (Turkey) recipes.

*Excluding Cold Pressed Lamb: Why is lamb cold pressed not suitable for puppies? Lamb is a nutritious and wholesome dinner for dogs but we do not recommend our lamb cold pressed for puppies. This is because the calcium is higher than is suitable for growing puppies as their bones and joints are developing and require carefully balanced nutrients.

Our new lightly baked dry dog food includes 50% single source protein (lamb, chicken or turkey). Tasty, natural ingredients are lightly baked to seal in the goodness and create nutritionally-balanced natural dry dog food for adult dogs (1 year+) in bite sized pellets.

You don't need to mix our dry dog kibble with anything else, but if you prefer to mix up mealtimes, it's the perfect companion to our natural wet dog food.
