My cockapoo loves them
Mr Michael Westwood
I have to blindly trust the quality of the product as I have no way to verify this myself (as my dog has different foods and treats from different suppliers it is hard to say which one improves her coat, her teeth, her energy levels), but I love the fact that they support the national trust and like giving my dog a change, so a duck flavoured treat is exactly that. I cannot attest to the taste of them either, but my pup doesn't turn her nose up at them and seems to enjoy them. It seems a bit on the pricey side, but what doesn't these days. I suppose you can just ask yourself whether you are happy to give your dog a sub-par, non nutritional treat for not much less...and since I'm not willing to give my pup any less than she deserves from me, I'd rather pay a little more to give her these over pedigree or bakers which is known for it's sub par nutritional fillers. Sometimes stores have offers on forthglade treats but not quite the variety of flavours.

FAQs

Unfortunately, it is possible to overfeed treats so as much as we love our four-legged friends, it's worth being cautious about how many treats you feed. Dogs who are given too many treats can end up with the following health problems:

  • Weight Gain: An overweight dog isn't a happy dog, being overweight can put a strain on joints, bones and the overall likelihood of serious health concerns increases dramatically. It's always best to seek advice from your vet if your dog starts putting on excess weight.
  • Nutrient Deficiencies: Although even the best and most natural treats can provide some valuable nutrition for your dog, If treats make up a large portion of your dog's diet, they may not be getting enough of the essential nutrients from their regular food.

Each dog is different so exactly how many treats is difficult to say however we wouldn't recommend exceeding more than 10% of your dogs total daily calorie allowance in treats. For an accurate calorie calculation, you will need to speak to your vet.

Each dog is different but in our experience high protein baked treats are a hit! They are easy to take on the go and can be broken so that you don't accidentally overfeed. Lots of treats on the market contain cereals and junk so opt for natural treats when you can.

If you're looking for something you already have at home, carrots, broccoli, seedless apple slices and rice cakes can be inexpensive alternatives to ready made dog treats. Be careful to check what fruits dogs can eat before treating.

Our soft treats can be enjoyed from 2 months + making them perfect for dogs or puppies.

Whilst our natural cuts treats can be enjoyed by slightly older puppies 4 months +.

Our dental sticks are suitable for dogs aged 1 year +.
