      Dr James Greenwood

      "It is vital that small breed dogs receive a good quality, highly nutritious, complete, balanced and natural diet. This is why it’s important to offer small dogs a small dog food tailored to their specific needs that they find irresistibly appetising and will give them the correct nutrition in order to thrive."

      Big Love For Small Dogs

      55% of dogs are small dogs*

      Our small dog range caters for dogs up to 10kg, but our smaller trays are also handy for feeding medium dogs up to 25kg on-the-go if you don't have fridge space.

      Feeding smaller portions is helpful to ensure maximum freshness and help with portion control.

      Love from our small but mighty fans

      We've included a few tails from our beloved Ambassadogs. We asked some of the smaller members of our pack for their honest feedback of why they love our Forthglade small dog food so much...

      The new small dog Forthglade packs are so convenient, no need to store in the fridge until opened so amazing for travel! Frankie my dachshund loved the taste and wanted more haha. Love that they’re high meat % and lots of veggies packed in there too. It’s a thumbs up from us!

      @frankie_.thedachshund

      Eating nutritious, wholesome food is a priority in our family, this includes Rupert. In the past, we have taken the time to hand-make his meals to ensure he wasn’t eating any junk and received all the necessary nutrients to keep him fit, happy & healthy. Now, with Forthglade’s small dog range, we feel confident that each meal is bursting with goodness, without the hassle of making it ourselves.

      @rupertoot

      Forthglade has always been my go-to, but this latest small dog range has me more excited than a dog with a tennis ball. It is an absolute
      lifesaver for our outdoor adventures when there is no refrigeration or freezers. They are the perfect fuel for hiking, outdoor activities and holidays. Knowing we can rely on Forthglade's quality wherever we go is truly appreciated.

      @logan_the_woofy

      Great things come in small packages! My dog, Poppy absolutely loves Forthglades small dog meals. They are such a handy size, filled with goodness and Poppy thinks they are delicious

      Small Dog FAQs

      Our small dog wet food range consist of the same delicious and nutritious recipes as those from our standard range. The difference is that we have created the perfect portion, making meal times easier for you and delicious for your four-legged friend.

      We have created the perfect portion size for your small dog, ensuring meal times are as easy as possible for you. The smaller trays are great if you are out and about and need to feed your dog while on the go.

      We want all dogs to enjoy our cold pressed range, this is why we have created a recipe specifically for smaller dogs and puppies, with smaller pellets for small mouths.

      It is important for all dogs to enjoy variety at meal times so we have created a range of wholesome and nutritious grain free small dog recipes to mix up meal times for your small four legged friend. The complete wet recipes currently available are:

      • Puppy: Chicken with Liver & Lamb with Liver
      • Adult: Chicken, Turkey, Lamb & Duck
      • Senior: Turkey & Lamb

      We also have high quality Natural Dry Cold Pressed option available specifically for small dogs.

      You can see our whole Small Dogs range here.

      Our puppy and adult recipes all have 75% single sourced protein. Our senior range includes 60% single source protein which is 15% less fat than our adult recipes. Your maturing dog needs less fat as they grow older, tailoring recipes to fit with your dogs needs

      Whilst there isn’t a set definition for hypoallergenic we know that, as all our recipes are clearly labelled with fully transparent ingredients, including clearly identifiable protein, our food is considered hypoallergenic. However, it is always important to read the ingredients carefully because whether or not a recipe is truly hypoallergenic for your dog, depends on the intolerance they have. If there is anything you are unsure of, we would recommend you reach out to your vet.

      We're so happy that you're considering giving Forthglade a go, thank you for trusting us with your dogs diet, we truly know how big of a decision this is and we're confident you won't regret it.

      Although it can be tempting to simply jump in with both feet when it comes to a new diet, it’s really important to switch over to the new food slowly to avoid any unnecessary tummy-upset.

      • Begin with a proportion of about 25% new food to 75% previous food
      • Over 7-14 days, gradually increase the amount of new food and decrease the amount of previous food until you are feeding only the new dietStick to your normal feeding pattern and aim to feed your dog at a similar time each day
      • Digestion creates a significant amount of body heat, so for dogs who are prone to heat stress you may want to consider feeding your pet in the early morning or evening when it’s cooler to help prevent them over-heating.
