Warehouse Operators (Double-day Shift)

To carry out a range of routine warehouse tasks and processes in line with operating procedures to ensure products or materials are picked and packed to meet the required standards and business needs.

Location: Okehampton, Devon

Hours: 06.00 – 14.00 / 14.00 - 22.00, rotating shifts, Monday to Friday
(Flexibility outside of these hours may be required to meet business demands)

Reporting Into: Warehouse Supervisor

Role Summary:

To carry out a range of routine warehouse tasks and processes in line with operating procedures to ensure products or materials are picked and packed to meet the required standards and business needs.

Main duties & Responsibilities:

  • Check products and materials against the required quality standards to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Unload materials from lorries and load with finished goods in a safe and timely manner with a high attention to detail.
  • Pick finished goods for customer orders as per company pick sheets.
  • Storage of ambient, fresh, and frozen materials in the appropriate storage locations.
  • Report any damages to product or equipment to your line manager.
  • Complete any necessary records and/or documentation as required.
  • Report any faults so that they can be rectified quickly and keep downtime to a minimum.
  • Operate any equipment and processes in which you are trained to use, adhering to operating procedures to achieve product specification and meet targets.
  • Check and monitor processes, making recommendations for any adjustments necessary to achieve product and process specification.
  • Carry out cleaning and hygiene tasks within the work area so that health and safety standards are maintained, and we meet all hygiene requirements.
  • Help solve problems and make suggestions for improvements, so that better ways of doing tasks are identified and implemented.
  • Communicate and co-operate with colleagues to achieve department goals.
  • Comply with all health and safety requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Carry out any tasks you are trained in throughout the factory.

Person Specification:

Experience & Knowledge

Experience of working in a similar factory and food environment. Specific knowledge within a warehouse/despatch area. Experience in forklift driving desirable.

Skills & Personal Attributes

Good numeracy and literacy skills. Good computer literacy, ability and willingness to learn warehouse software and systems. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and work on own initiative where required. Ability to prioritise and manage own time effectively.  Trustworthy, reliable, and punctual.
