This wholegrain recipe is specifically tailored for senior dogs, helping you as you transition your dog onto senior food. Containing 60% lamb, brown rice and tasty vegetables, this wholesome natural recipe is designed to help keep your dog fitter for longer.

All of our senior dog recipes are hypoallergenic and contain salmon oil, a source of omega 3 to help maintain cognitive function, alongside higher levels of chondroitin and glucosamine to help support joint and bone health. These meals are also lighter in calories to support your dog in maintaining a healthy weight.

Feeding Guide

Our recommended feeding amounts are here to help you, but no-one knows your four-legged friend better than you do, so do feel free to tailor them based on your dogs individual lifestyle. As a general guide if your dog is very active you should consider feeding a little more, and likewise if your dog isn’t very active you may want to consider feeding less.

This a complete wet pet food for dogs. A nutritionally complete food that can be fed on it's own, added to Forthglade cold pressed dry food or used as a tasty topper.If mixing with other foods please adjust quantities accordingly.

As with all changes to your dogs' diet - if you're using the product for the first time, you should gradually introduce it to your dog over a period of 5 days to avoid any unnecessary tummy upset.

Switching Day By Day

"When transitioning your dog onto a new diet, it is particularly important to do this gradually and to avoid any sudden changes. This allows your dog’s digestive system to adapt with the switch and remain in balance. As a minimum, allow 5 full days to gradually reduce their current diet whilst simultaneously increasing their new food with each meal. For dogs with sensitive tummies, go even slower and transition over 1-2 weeks"

Why would I feed my dog your wholegrain recipes vs your grain free recipes?

Grains aren't something to be worried about unless your dog has an allergy or intolerance to them.

The natural fibre found in our wholegrains are easily digestible promoting healthy digestion.

Some of our customers like to mix and match between grain free and wholegrain recipes, opting for wholegrain before particularly long walks or intensive exercise. Or they simply feed just to keep their dog topped up.

How are senior recipes 15% lower in fat than the equivalent adult recipes?

In order to provide your senior dog with the best possible nutrition for their life stage, we've increased the amount of lower calorie vegetables alongside wholegrain brown rice whilst reducing the quantity of higher fat ingredients.

This change helps to keep the calorie content of the food where it needs to be for older dogs who typically have slower metabolisms whilst still delivering them the expert nutrition they need to support their overall health & wellbeing.

How long can I store Forthglade wet meals in the fridge?

You can safely store your opened trays of Forthglade wet meals in the fridge for up to two days after opening, without any compromise to quality or flavour.

What is the difference between a ‘puppy’ recipe and an ‘adult’ recipe?

Our puppy recipes contain a tailored mix of vitamins & minerals specifically designed for puppies, and include Salmon Oil which is rich in Omega-3 and widely recognised to support your puppy’s growing joints and cognitive development. We carefully selected proteins to match your bouncy puppy's needs.

What is the difference between a ‘senior’ recipe and an ‘adult’ recipe?

Our senior recipes contain higher levels of Glucosamine & Chondroitin as well as Salmon Oil, rich in Omega-3, to support your dog's joints & bones during their senior years.
