Feeding Guide

Serve on its own or mix with Forthglade wet food. If mixing, adjust the amounts accordingly. A dog's tummy can be sensitive to change. Introduce cold pressed gradually over five days, starting with a 90/10 mix with their current food, slowly increasing the ratio.

I have two dogs, both are fed mainly on raw meat but the young labrador has a more sensitive tummy and so I have now split his food into half Forthglade cold pressed and half raw and his tummy is now settled and he is doing very well on the mixture. I have also put my older dog on the same mixture and she too is enjoying it. The cold pressed food is really convenient for travelling too.

We are still on the changing over to Forthglade but so far our dog is enjoying the food. Eating her dinner as soon as it's down (she used to ask for her food but would walk away - now she asks and then eats!). It's still early days but early signs are good.

Switching Day By Day

"When transitioning your dog onto a new diet, it is particularly important to do this gradually and to avoid any sudden changes. This allows your dog’s digestive system to adapt with the switch and remain in balance. As a minimum, allow 5 full days to gradually reduce their current diet whilst simultaneously increasing their new food with each meal. For dogs with sensitive tummies, go even slower and transition over 1-2 weeks"

How do you store Forthglade dry food?

Store in a cool, dry place. Once opened, store in an airtight container for maximum freshness. Our Cold Pressed dry dog food can be kept for up to one month once opened and our Lightly Baked dry dog food can be kept for up to two months.

All food comes with a best-before date on the outer packaging and unless otherwise stated will have at least one years shelf life.

Why is lamb cold pressed not suitable for puppies?

Lamb is a nutritious and wholesome dinner for dogs but we do not recommend our lamb cold pressed for puppies. This is because the calcium is higher than is suitable for growing puppies as their bones and joints are developing and require carefully balanced nutrients.
