Veterans With Dogs are a charity who provide and train Assistance Dogs for current and former members of the British Armed Forces. Veterans who have been diagnosed with service-related mental health conditions, celebrates their ten-year anniversary this year. We've been partnered with Veterans With Dogs since 2019 and you can find out more about our partnership here.
The non-profit organisation was founded back in 2012 by Craig MacLellan, a Veteran himself. Craig realised how much his own dogs helped him throughout his experience with PTSD and set up Veterans With Dogs to help fellow Veterans also struggling with their mental health, as a result of working in the forces.
As the first UK charity of its kind, it is now ten years later, and Craig and his team have helped over 200 Veterans. Providing Assistance Dogs who not only enable these Veterans to lead independent lives, but often allow them to regain their sense of purpose and self-worth, by re-engaging with their communities and society.
Whilst they want to recognise all that they have achieved over the last 10 years, there are still many more Veterans that need their support. The charity has an extensive waiting list and limited funds to meet this high demand.
To support the valued work Veterans With Dogs do, we've created a limited edition Veterans With Dogs recipe and have contributed £15,000 to the care and training of two assistance dogs. Check out the delicious turkey with sweet potato and vegetable recipe here.
