Interim Quality Systems Manager

Location: Okehampton, Devon.

Hours: 8.30am - 4.30pm Mon-Fri, flexibility outside of these hours needed to meet business demands.

Salary: Dependant on experience

Holiday: 25 days + Bank Holidays

Reporting into: Quality, Health & Safety Manager

 

Role Summary

This is an exciting role as we continue to expand and the successful candidate with be responsible for implementing and maintaining effective quality systems in relation to legal compliance, food safety and quality requirements. Ensuring all customer specific technical requirements are implemented and reviewed ensure all customer specific technical requirements are implemented and reviewed. Ensuring a Culture of Food Safety and Quality is successfully embedded through the implementation, maintenance and awareness of the Food Safety and Quality Management System (FSQMS) and supporting Operations in the development of process and procedural opportunities that exist for the benefit and improvement of the Company whilst maintaining agreed standards.

 

Role specifics

Main duties & responsibilities

All those duties normally associated with the role of Quality Systems Manager to include but not limited to:

  • Internal auditing and maintaining the internal audit program
  • BRC standard implementation and functional support
  • Document Control as part of FSQMS
  • Maintenance of Technical Systems and customer specific technical requirements
  • Raw material Specifications – maintenance and review
  • Raw Material Risk Assessments
  • Supplier Approval, Performance Monitoring and action plans
  • Finished Product Specifications, review and amendments
  • HACCP team member and administrator
  • Deputy to Quality Manager and QA team support
  • Support the training and development of the new Technical Assistant role (part time) to ensure continuity in the QS Manager role.

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • Degree level or equivalent in a food related subject
  • HACCP qualification
  • Internal Auditing
  • Experience of working in a FMCG environment
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the food industry
  • The ability to work independently as well as constructively with others and in multi-disciplined teams
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with your peers
  • The role requires a self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritise and manage own time effectively
  • The ability to manage audit schedules, allocate audits and follow up on reports is essential
  • Able to get the job done, a tenacious character who has the ability to push through ideas
  • Good numeracy and literary. Computer literate
  • Must be trustworthy, reliable and punctual
  • Having a sense of responsibility for your own actions
  • Managing change control within the business to ensure ways of working understood, implemented and maintained
  • Maintaining document control for the site
  • BRC gap analysis and standards review
  • Highly articulate and able to communicate clearly at all levels internally and externally
  • Able to gain support for initiatives when necessary
  • Consistently implementing and sharing best practice
  • Excellent reporting skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels within the business

 

Desirable

  • Lead auditor training qualification
  • Advanced food hygiene HACCP Level 4 or above
  • Experience of working in a management role in a Technical / Quality Management within a food manufacturing environment
  • Training and coaching skills
