Accounts Payable Controller

Location: Okehampton, Devon.

Hours: 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday, flexibility outside of these hours required to meet business demands (would consider a four day week)

Salary: Dependant on experience

Holiday: 23 days + Bank Holidays

Reporting into: Financial Accounting Manager

 

Role Summary

 

Responsible for the management of the accounts payable ledgers from posting of matched or approved invoices through to processing on payments and of the weekly payroll process, recommending and working with the Financial Accounting Manager to deliver through efficient and effective processes, with due controls in place.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Management of the accounts payable ledger and all associated postings, compliant with company processes and procedures, liaising with suppliers to agree information as needed.
  • Matching of product, raw material, packaging and other invoices against receipted purchase orders querying any discrepancies arising with the appropriate teams / managers, resolving issues and identifying potential process improvements.
  • Ensuring all services and other invoices received, not subject to the purchase order process, are duly authorised by appropriate management prior to posting and payment.
  • Supporting the preparation of the weekly payment run and associated ad hoc tasks when covering for sickness and holiday absence for approval, and subsequent bank processing.
  • Ensuring all new suppliers are set up in accordance with due company process and approval; verifying new supplier bank details or other bank detail changes before payment.
  • Processing and payment of expense claims, duly approved in line with company guidelines.

 

Person Specification

 

  • Previous accounts payable or similar financial processing experience.
  • Strong maths skills; AAT qualification would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Confident and experienced with using accounting systems and Microsoft excel.
  • Good communicator, able to engage others and build collaborative relationships easily.
  • Problem solver, focussed, manage own time effectively, high attention to detail, plus the
  • ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to building strong working relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Must be trustworthy, reliable and punctual with a proactive approach.
