We were excited to recently share that we've teamed up with Dogs on the Street (DOTS), a volunteer-run charity dedicated to the welfare of dogs belonging to the UK’s homeless community. As well as providing 2,000 dog's dinners every month we were lucky enough to be able to attend one of the charity's weekly visits to The Strand in London on Sunday 9th December - to see first hand, the incredible work carried out by the team. The festive themed event attracted 24 dogs, each receiving medical care, food & other essentials.
Michelle Clark, Founding Director of Dogs on the Street said of the day ‘Winter months are always busier as we try to secure some form of accommodation support, be it hostel or night shelters -especially when the temperature drops to minus degrees. We outreach daily up to 16-hours a day in freezing temperatures, providing survival essentials for both the dog and owner. It makes a huge difference to the homeless knowing there’s a service available 24/7 to support and provide free accessible vet care for their beloved dogs, as well as obtaining nutritious wet food from Forthglade plus other essentials’.
“We’re so pleased to be able to offer our natural meals and treats to Dogs on the Street. The volunteers for the charity work so hard to aid the dogs and their owners. It’s great to hear that DOTS hope to open even more stations across the UK next year, we hope more individuals and organisations can help support their efforts” said Patrick Horton, Director, Forthglade.
We're proudly supporting the amazing work this charity is doing and this festive season we're doubling our donation and providing 4,000 dinners for dogs living as part of the UK's homeless community this festive season.
