charity initiative

Throughout June we asked you to vote for ten deserving charities to receive a share of 10,000 trays of our delicious dinners made in Devon. Our 50 for 50 charity initiative aims to support canine companions who are awaiting their forever homes or for assistance dogs training to be a life saver and loyal companion. Find out more about just some of this month's charities.

"RSPCA Blackberry Farm take in animals from our Inspectorate, and many of these animals have been subjected to cruelty and neglect before coming into our care.  It can take months and sometimes longer to provide the medical care and rehabilitation needed for many of the dogs until we are able to find them new homes. 2021 is our 25 year anniversary and this fantastic donation is a wonderful gift to receive in this milestone year.   All our dogs love this food, and we cannot thank Forthglade and all our amazing supporters enough who voted for us."

"Staffie and Stray Rescue are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of Forthglade in supporting the dogs in our care with great quality food, especially during the challenging times surrounding the pandemic. We specialise in more challenging and complex dogs and are seeing increasing cases of abuse and neglect, the dogs often arrive in need of a nutritious and delicious meal as they start their journey to find a forever home. Thank you Forthglade!"

“Thank you so much for this amazing generous donation gift that you have kindly given to us and so many other deserving causes. I am not sure people realise what a huge difference a donation of good quality dog food makes to us small independent charities.  At Celia Cross we always aim to look after the dogs in our care to the highest standards and believe that a good nutritional diet is a vital part of any dogs health and wellbeing, so we  are truly blessed to receive this very generous donation for our dogs. The money that we save on the feeding bills whilst this donation is being used will enable us to use the funds in other areas that we may not have been able to do so. During the past 18 months, like many small rescue we have found that we have had to tighten our belt, so this generous donation really does help out so very much. We are so grateful to all at Forthglade for their continued support to us and all the other rescues around the country, and our dogs say a bigger thank you for their full happy tummies.”

German Shepherd Rescue Scotland would like to say a huge Thank You to Forthglade for their delivery of food, and to everyone who voted for us.This food has been distributed between our kennel dogs and our Foster dogs and these pictures are of a recent van load which we took to our dogs in commercial boarding kennels. This food will be a massive help in keeping our food bills down and all the dogs love it. We are a small registered charity and we rely 100% on donations and fundraising to continue our work in rehoming dogs all over Scotland. We rely on our Volunteers to carry out homecheck visits and to assess any dog who needs our help, no volunteers are paid and all the work is carried out in the volunteer's free time. Since reopening our rehoming of dogs (after Covid restrictions were lifted) we have seen a sharp rise in dogs looking for a new home. Our kennels and foster carers do an amazing job in looking after the dogs and further assessing them prior to us matching the right dog to the right family / home. As you can see from the attached pictures, the dogs are all very happy to see this recent delivery! Many thanks from everyone at German Shepherd Rescue Scotland and especially from the dogs.

'We have 1400 dogs in our care and we struggle daily to care for them financially due to donations we receive being at about 50% this year in comparison to 2019 before Covid affected everyone. Sadly animal charities have been severely impacted and there has been no government help at all for us'
